Working Families, the UK’s national charity for working parents and carers, has announced that Squire Patton Boggs has earned a place on its highly regarded list of top family-friendly and flexible employers.

Employers were assessed using Working Families’ Benchmark and were scored on four key areas to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support parents and carers. These areas include:

  • Integration to organisational strategy and culture – which looks at culture, attitude and how far flexible and family-friendly working practices have become embedded;
  • policy – which looks at the creation, development and deployment of flexible and family-friendly working policies and their take-up;
  • consistent practice – which considers how well flexible and family-friendly working is supported; and
  • evidence and statistics – which looks at the effects of flexible and family-friendly working on the organisation, and their ability to understand those effects.

Squire Patton Boggs has a wide range of resources to support families and carers. These include the ‘My Family Hub,’ which offers a suite of guides and resources; a Carers Policy and Toolkit, providing employees with access to quick and short-term support; and a Carers Concierge Service. Through the ‘MyWellbeing’ programme, employees and their family members can access information and advice on a broad range of topics focused on career, health, family, finances and community. The firm’s global mentoring programme also incorporates wellbeing as a key subject where mentees can specifically request support from mentors.

This year, Squire Patton Boggs has launched a campaign offering a window into life at the firm by sharing real-life accounts from colleagues about their personal and professional journeys. Visit the link to access ‘Welcome to my Journey.’

Jonathan Jones, European managing partner, said: “As part of our commitment to creating a flexible and family friendly working environment, we focus on an individual’s journey at the firm, encouraging colleagues to pursue their personal and professional goals with the support they need for a long-lasting, rewarding career with us.”

Jane van Zyl, CEO of Working Families, said: “Our Top Employers are a powerful reminder that there are employers who are already forging a path for family-friendly and flexible working that others can follow, safe in the knowledge that not only will their business not suffer, but it will thrive. Supporting carers, finding flexibility in job roles, and encouraging change from the top, as our Benchmark employers do, all add up to create inclusive workforces where everyone is empowered to work at their best.”
