About Marija

Marija Šćekić is a director in the International Dispute Resolution Practice Group, based in London. She has 15 years of experience in international arbitration, across a range of jurisdictions and industries, with a particular focus on energy, including gas pricing and oil exploration and production sharing disputes.

She has acted as counsel in both commercial and investment treaty disputes, under various arbitral rules, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) rules.

  • Representing a client in an UNCITRAL arbitration regarding an oil exploration and production sharing agreement.

  • Representing a client in an ICC arbitration regarding deliveries of natural gas imported into a European market.

  • Advising a client in relation to issues concerning commissioning under a liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales and purchase agreement.

  • Advising a client in relation to a long-term strategy for the sale of LNG to multiple buyers.

  • Advising a client in relation to an adjustment to the LNG price in expert determination proceedings.

  • Advising an Asian LNG buyer in an arbitration regarding cargo deliveries.

  • Advising a client in expert determination proceedings under a petroleum agreement.

  • Advising a client in a dispute concerning oil storage facilities.

  • Advising a client in a dispute arising from a commodities procurement contract.

  • Advised a client in relation to a potential ICC arbitration regarding deliveries of natural gas imported into a European market.

  • Represented a client in multiple gas price reviews under the UNCITRAL rules and the SCC rules, regarding natural gas imported into the Turkish market.

  • Represented a client in multiple gas price reviews under the ICC Rules, regarding natural gas imported into European markets.

  • Represented a European manufacturing company in an ICC arbitration sited in London, under English and Japanese law, involving claims related to a share purchase agreement.

  • Represented a European bank in ICSID investment arbitration proceedings against an Eastern European state.

  • Represented an Eastern European manufacturing company in an investment treaty claim against an Eastern European state.

  • Represented European investors in an investment treaty claim relating to financial services and real estate investments.
