Jason Blakey is a partner in our Litigation team in Leeds.

Jason specialises in commercial litigation dealing with a wide range of contractual and tortious disputes, including shareholder disputes, warranty claims and breach of restrictive covenants. Jason also practises pensions litigation and has appeared before the Determinations Panel twice.

Jason acts for a number of public limited companies and limited companies across a range of business sectors, including retail, automotive and electrical engineering. He has also conducted numerous arbitrations, including under the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations and Groceries Supply Code of Practice. Jason is also a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers, a nonprofit organization.

  • Acting for a limited company in numerous disputes, particularly, concerning a power plant in the Philippines, work done in Libya and a claim against a worldwide energy company in respect of a power plant in the UK.
  • Defending a claim for approximately £2 million for the alleged supply of defective hybrid vehicles.
  • Defending an automotive parts repair company against a claim by a car hire company for circa £6.5 million. The claimant alleged dishonesty and used that as evidence for its extrapolation claim.
  • Acting for a major retailer in respect of a specialist arbitration in which the claimant suppliers alleged they had been wrongfully delisted.
  • Representing the same public limited company retailer in connection with the equalisation proceedings for one of its pension schemes.
  • Acting for the defendant companies in which pension funds were invested in connection with alleged pensions liberation. Both High Court and regulatory proceedings were commenced against the companies and trustees.
