Oliver Bristow is an associate in our Environmental, Safety & Health Practice based in our Manchester and Birmingham offices. Oliver specialises in all aspects of environmental, safety and health law. He advises multinational clients on a broad range of environmental and product compliance laws across multiple jurisdictions. Oliver also advises on large transactions with environmental and health and safety considerations, particularly in the energy and real estate sectors. He has particular interests in sustainability, climate change, recycling and chemicals regulations.

    Oliver has assisted in defending companies and individuals facing criminal and regulatory investigations and prosecutions, following both environmental and health and safety incidents. He also has an extensive and varied background in regulatory law and has acted in both a defence and prosecution capacity.

    • Advising a multinational client on the use of e-warranties across eight jurisdictions and three continents.
    • Assisting in the defence of a criminal health and safety prosecution brought by the HSE on behalf of a well-known multinational waste management and decommissioning company.
    • Advising on a transaction involving six energy from waste sites across England and Wales with a combined value of around £1.6 billion.
    • Assisting in the defence of OPSS and HSE investigations into a distributer of COVID-19 facemasks, which could have resulted in a product recall and criminal prosecution.
    • Advising a well-known contractor plc on the carriage of dangerous goods by land, air and sea across the whole of the UK.
    • Advising on Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), Energy Performance Certificates (EPC), and Gas Safety Certificates, in a transaction relating to a portfolio of around 400 residential properties in the North West of England.
