Jessica Cuttriss assists trustee and employer clients on a wide range of issues in relation to both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes. Jessica also has experience advising the trustee of the UK's first collective defined contribution (CDC) pension scheme. Jessica sits on our national corporate transaction, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and data protection working groups. Jessica is an associate member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers (APL) and a member the APL's Future Leaders in Pensions sub-committee.

Jessica qualified into the Pensions team in August 2021 after training with the firm. As part of her training, Jessica worked within the firm’s specialist pensions disputes team. Jessica was head trainee among her trainee cohort and is an active member of the firm’s charity, pro bono, gender diversity and social mobility initiatives. Prior to commencing her training contract, Jessica was a paralegal in the firm’s Real Estate and Restructuring & Insolvency teams.

  • Assisting in advising clients on a wide range of pensions issues affecting DC, DB and CDC pension schemes. This includes scheme governance, member queries and communications, as well as drafting scheme documentation.
  • Advising trustee clients on the merger of pension arrangements.
  • Advising trustee clients in connection with scheme advisor and service provider contracts.
  • Drafting and conducting reviews of key documentation required by data protection legislation.
  • Advising trustee clients in connection with disputes with scheme members.
  • Assisting in a number of corporate transactions providing pensions support.
  • Advising trustees on investment management arrangements including review of contractual terms.
  • Delivery of training to trustees and employers on a variety of pensions topics, including to individuals located overseas with no experience of the UK pensions regime.
  • Preparation of policy documentation further to The Pension Regulator's General Code of Practice.
  • Assisting in advising trustee clients on risk transfer exercises including buy-in of scheme benefits with an insurer and conversion of buy-ins to buy-outs.
