Maren Ebner’s practice focuses on intellectual property law, particularly on trademarks and design patents in a variety of industries, including a US-based consumer goods company with an international portfolio of nearly 1,800 trademarks registered in more than 180 countries.

    In strategic terms, she is involved with trademark availability searches, clearance and trademark prosecution before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She has responsibility in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings and counsels clients in cooperation with German Customs authorities in counterfeiting cases. Maren is also experienced in internet domain name disputes under the rules of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), in intellectual property due diligence, and in arbitration proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris (ICC) and the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).

    Maren is a member of the Frankfurt Bar Association, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).

    • Representing a German financial institution in the prosecution of a sound mark before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante.
    • Representing a German artist in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the EUIPO in Alicante.
    • Representing a South African food manufacturer in a dispute with its German distributor, in relation to trademark exhaustion and food labelling.
    • Representing a Saudi Arabian food distributor in a commercial arbitration before the ICC.
    • Representing a Swedish medical device manufacturer in an arbitration concerning distribution rights before LCIA.
