Michael Hawthorne is an associate in our Public Policy Practice, who leverages his Capitol Hill and government investigations experience to advise major corporations, organizations and nonprofits on complex policy issues, with an emphasis on taxation, energy and transportation and infrastructure.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael developed a strong background in public policy and congressional procedure, serving as a law clerk for the US House Committee on Ways and Means and a senior member of the US Senate Committee on Finance.
Michael graduated from The George Washington University Law School, where he was Production Editor of The George Washington Law Review and a teaching assistant for the Legislation and Regulation course. As a law student, Michael also developed a background in government investigations, serving as a law clerk for the US Office of Special Counsel and the US Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
Michael received his B.A. in political science from The George Washington University in 2019. While an undergraduate, he held several internships in the US House of Representatives and the executive branch.
