Marek Hrubeš
Senior Associate
Marek Hrubeš focuses his practice on private equity (PE), venture capital (VC) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Marek has wide-ranging experience in handling cross-border and domestic transactions and negotiations. He has been appraised by clients for his aim to exceed expectations.
Marek's transactional portfolio covers legal advice to PE/VC funds, global corporations and wealthy individuals on investments, acquisitions and sales of companies of all sizes across a range of industries including technology, manufacturing, retail and real estate.
Marek has also advised clients on multiple corporate restructurings, including mergers and spin-offs, debt financing and on setting-up long-term shareholders' relationships in joint ventures and between investors and founders.
Marek has studied and worked in Taiwan and mainland China, where he learnt Mandarin and passed the HSK 5 Chinese Proficiency Test.

- Advising a group of European VC funds on their Series A investment into the UK’s first all-electric, intercity bus service operator and tech company optimizing battery charging and customer services.
- Advising one of the largest Czech VC funds investing into innovative clean-tech and decarbonization start-ups on its Series A investment into an Austrian SaaS platform provider that specializes in the efficient dispatch and commercialization of renewable energy generation.
- Advising a Nasdaq-listed technology company on its acquisition of a Czech fast-growing startup, a leading provider of digital customer engagement.
- Representing a CEE-based PE firm in connection with the sale of a 50% stake in a portfolio company building and operating a network of private secondary schools in the CEE region and providing education consulting services.
- Advising a Taiwanese VC fund on its Series A investment into a Czech-based developer and producer of virtual and mixed reality headsets and training systems for professional and military pilots.
- Advising the world’s leading provider of technology-enabled language, content management and IP services in connection with a cross-border merger involving Luxembourg and Czech corporations.
- Advising an investment fund of qualified investors on the €123.8 million acquisition of a shopping center located in Pardubice.
- Assisting a rapidly growing real estate investor and developer in a series of transactions involving acquisitions and sales of various logistic and retail parks and office buildings, such as the acquisition of 100% ownership interest in the sole owner of an office building located in Radlice, Prague, from a Spanish investment fund, and the acquisition and subsequent sale of 100% ownership interests in modern logistic parks located near the city of Pardubice.
- Advising an NYSE-listed global packaging product-maker on the strategic acquisition of a modern plant located in the Czech Republic featuring state-of-the-art specialized packaging equipment and adjacent greenfield development area.
- Advising an NYSE-listed global packaging product-maker on the acquisition of 100% shares in two Romanian manufacturers of packaging materials.
- Advising a German real estate fund in connection with the acquisition of a hotel in Prague and setting up legal relations between the asset company and the operating company.
- Representing one of the largest Czech foundations on the acquisition of a 100% stake in a Czech joint-stock company, the owner of a historical and protected chateau/homestead located in Prague.
- Advising shareholders of a group of companies engaged in large residential, office and retail real estate projects in the Czech Republic on shareholder buyouts and €120 million senior facility refinancing.
- Advising shareholders (both PE funds and wealthy individuals) on structuring the shareholders’ relationships in various companies.
