Simon James is a partner in the Pensions Practice Group of our London office, having joined the firm in 2010 as a trainee solicitor and qualified as a solicitor in 2012.

Simon practice is primarily focused on advising trustee and employer clients in relation to some of the largest and most complex pension schemes in the UK.

As well as having a general practice of assisting in relation to pension scheme projects (risk transfer, mergers, etc) and day-to-day operation of scheme, Simon has particular expertise in relation to complex administration and communication projects. Simon also has significant experience assisting clients with pensions disputes and advising on pensions tax matters. Simon recently advised on the launch of the UK's first collective defined contribution pension plan.

Simon’s past experience includes spending 12 months on secondment at the professional secretariats of two of the UK’s largest pension schemes. This experience has helped Simon to give practical and pragmatic advice, with insight into the inner workings of modern UK pension schemes.

Simon is a member of the legislation committee of the Society of Pension Professionals and is actively involved in several pro bono projects.
