Nina Kuśnierkiewicz is a Polish-qualified lawyer and a member of the European Public Policy Practice in Brussels, where she primarily supports clients on EU sustainability policy and regulatory matters, including on circular economy-related legislation and policy initiatives.

Prior to joining the firm, Nina was a part of a team of the EU Commission’s Directorate General for the Environment (From Waste to Resources Unit). She was involved in revising the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive and Waste Framework Directive.

Before moving to Brussels, Nina worked as an associate in the environmental practice and mergers and acquisition practice in one of the top law firms in Poland. She participated in legal analyses and delivered due diligence reports for major environmental transactions on European and Polish market.

Nina actively provided day-to-day advice to large enterprises, working on almost every environmentally sensitive topic, including permitting obligations in the field of waste generation and waste management, atmospheric emissions, storage of waste (including closed and functioning landfills), single-use plastics, placement of packaging batteries and accumulators on the EU market, products labelling for recycling purposes, deposit system for plastic and glass bottles, allocations of CO2 allowances and public access to information on the environment.

  • Advising on the sale of the market leader’s recycling and recovery operations in Poland with an estimated value of €1.1 billion.
  • Advising on the acquisition of a major chain of supermarkets valued at PLN900 million.
  • Advising on the sale of a major paper production plant with an asset value of approximately €670 million.
