Maura McIntyre is a senior associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group. Her practice focuses on financial restructuring, corporate trust matters, and workout proceedings on behalf of financially distressed companies or their creditors, including representation of debtors; indenture trustees; creditors and creditors’ committees; investors; and purchasers, in in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Maura’s insolvency and restructuring practice is bolstered by her trust indenture experience, which has included representation of indenture trustees in Chapter 11 cases, negotiations with ad hoc bondholder groups and advising indenture trustees with respect to obligations in matters concerning defaulted securities.

  • Representing chapter 11 debtors, including Indiana- and Illinois-based continuing care retirement provider Lutheran Home and Services for the Aged, Inc., propane distributor Ferrellgas Partners L.P., West Virginia-based coal producer, Blackjewel LLC and Kentucky-based coal producer, Hartshorne Holdings LLC.
  • Advising on bankruptcy matters related to true sale and non-consolidation in the issuance of public and private debt instruments.
  • Advising a small private university navigating near-term liquidity constraints and managing issues related to its real estate portfolio, proposed mergers and bondholder negations.
  • Advising monoline insurer in connection with novating in excess of US$1 billion in insurance policies to reinsurer.
  • Representing the second largest propane distributor in the US, Ferrellgas Partners L.P. and Ferrellgas L.P., in an in-court and out-of-court restructuring whereby over US$1.5 billion in debt was restructured.
  • Representing indenture trustees in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of New Rite Aid, LLC, WeWork Inc., Basic Water Company, Ultra Petroleum Corp., Shopko Stores Operating Co. LLC and California Resources Corporation.
  • Representing the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of Phoenix Services Topco LLC, BJ Services and LBI Media Inc.
  • Advising the Relocation Payment Clearinghouse, an entity established in conjunction with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), on issues arising from the Intelsat Chapter 11 case as it relates to the distribution of over US$4 billion of funds to be allocated to Intelsat from an FCC established program.
