James Mosley is an associate in the firm’s Competition – Antitrust Practice based in our London office. James’ practice covers contentious and non-contentious EU and UK competition law matters, including merger control and foreign investment as well as public procurement and UK subsidy control.

James has undertaken secondments at a leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners, defence, space and security systems, as well as at an industrial thread manufacturer. James has also undertaken a secondment at a leading pharmaceutical company.

Prior to joining the firm, James worked at the Competition and Markets Authority.

  • Advising Tereos SCA on the CMA’s review of the anticipated acquisition by T&L Sugars Limited of the UK packing and distribution site and business-to-consumer activities of Tereos United Kingdom and Ireland Limited.
  • Advising Pharmacy2U Limited on the CMA’s review of its completed acquisition of Lloyds Direct. The CMA unconditionally cleared this transaction on 12 March 2024.
  • Advising Pets at Home Group Plc on the CMA’s ongoing market investigation into the veterinary sector launched in May 2024.
  • Advising Blackhall Facilities Management on the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s merger control review of its acquisition by Inflexion, which was cleared unconditionally on 21 December 2023.
  • Advising Blackhall Facilities on the Irish Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s 2022 merger control review of the proposed sale of its Village Vets veterinary clinics business to Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, Ireland.
  • Advising a major global provider of market research services in relation to the competition aspects of its proposed multibillion-dollar acquisition of a competing business across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advising a private equity-owned UK-based freight-forwarding company in relation to the competition aspects of its acquisition of a Polish competitor.
  • Advising pharmaceutical clients on compliance with EU/UK competition law in relation to the supply of certain drugs.
  • Advising on and securing National Security and Investment Act (NSIA) clearances in relation to numerous transactions (mandatory and voluntary notifications, on both buy side and sell side).
  • Conducting multijurisdictional foreign direct investment (FDI) filing assessments.
  • Advising Studio Retail Group plc on the CMA’s review of the sale of its Findel Education business to YPO (Phase 1 and Phase 2).
  • Assisting WIK-Consult in preparing a study for the European Commission, which provides an overview of the implementation of broadband state aid measures across the EU.
  • Assisting and acting for a global mobile satellite communications company by lobbying regulators in the UK, Austria, the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic.
  • Advising global internet-based services providers in respect of regulatory and telecommunications matters in connection with the implementation of the EU Electronic Communications Code.
  • Advising on general EU and UK competition law matters, merger control and compliance.
