Rita Mota Abinader is a Corporate associate in our Santo Domingo office where she advises domestic and international clients on corporate, commercial, tax-related and regulatory matters. Her practice includes mergers and acquisitions, as well as securities and banking matters related to doing business in the Dominican Republic.

Rita has supported clients across the free trade zones, transportation, project financing, education, beverages, mass consumption and government sectors. Her experience spans cross-border transactions, regulatory compliance, contract and argument drafting and corporate governance. She frequently collaborates across practice areas, contributing legal opinions and strategic insights. Rita was part of the team that assisted a local company with its initial public offering of shares in the Dominican securities market – the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic.

She also has expertise in preparing legal opinions on the enforceability of provisions under the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) and the Global Master Repurchase Agreement (GMRA) with respect to Dominican financial entities.

  • Advising local and foreign clients on corporate restructuring, capital increase or reduction, dissolution and liquidation matters of Dominican legal entities.
  • Assisting clients with the obtainment, update or amendment of authorizations, registries or permits before Dominican authorities, such as the Mercantile Registry, the Tax Authority, the Customs Authority, the Social Security Treasury, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Government Procurement and Contracting Authority, the Superintendence of Insurance and the National Council of Free Trade Zones.
  • Advising and assisting clients with succession processes under Dominican law.
