Leah O’Connell is a senior associate in the Real Estate team based in our Perth office, specialising in commercial property law, hospitality and liquor licensing.

Leah has experience in a variety of commercial property matters, including commercial and retail leasing for both landlords and tenants, property acquisitions and disposals, due diligence and liquor licensing.

Since joining the Real Estate team, Leah has assisted such clients as Brookfield Properties, Far East Consortium and DevelopmentWA with their commercial and retail leasing. Leah has also assisted a number of clients with new and existing liquor licence applications, including the Ritz Carlton Perth, the Ibis Styles Perth and a number of liquor store and tavern liquor licences for larger supermarket and hospitality chains.

Leah has been appointed as a committee member on the Property Council WA Future Directions Committee for the 2023-2024 term.

  • Acting for Brookfield Properties in relation to the leasing of office and retail tenancies at several Perth locations, including Brookfield Place, 108 St Georges Terrace, EY 11 Mounts Bay Road and Bishops See.
  • Acting for Brookfield Properties on the development and leasing of office and retail tenancies at One The Esplanade, Elizabeth Quay.
  • Acting for Far East Consortium on the acquisition, contracting and strata titling of its Perth City Link sites, including the mixed-use Perth Hub development.
  • Acting for DevelopmentWA on the leasing and liquor licensing at Yagan Square and Elizabeth Quay.
  • Acting for Far East Consortium on the leasing of the retail tenancies at the Towers at Elizabeth Quay.
  • Acting for Far East Consortium on the ownership and management structuring of the Ritz Carlton Perth.
  • Acting for, and assisting, one of Australia’s largest automotive groups with the development and leasing of several car dealerships' sites in Western Australia and Victoria.
  • Acting for Racing and Wagering Western Australia on the leasing of retail premises for TAB outlets.
  • Acted for Far East Consortium on the Ritz Carlton Hotel liquor licence application for the Towers at Elizabeth Quay.
  • Advised on and prepared the liquor licence application for the Ibis Styles Perth.
  • Acted for ALH Group on various liquor licensing matters for venues around Perth.
  • Acting for Brookfield Properties by preparing due diligence reports on existing assets for site refinancing.
  • Assisted a large supermarket chain in relation to liquor licence applications in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
  • Acting for Alceon, a mezzanine financier, on the discharge of securities.
  • Acting for Woolworths on the sale and acquisition of property in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
  • Acting for Georgiou Developments on the acquisition and disposal of land, including undertaking due diligence enquiries.
