Vladimira (Val) Papirnik focuses her international business practice on banking, project finance and corporate law in the US and in Central and Eastern Europe.
She has also advised clients on major privatization and greenfield investments in the Czech Republic.
Val has more than 30 years of experience representing financial institutions and corporate clients in connection with all aspects of financings, including bilateral and multilateral corporate and commercial lending, leverage finance, acquisition and other structured finance, real estate and project finance, syndicated secured and unsecured corporate loans. She regularly advises clients on all aspects of cross-border financings and represents a Czech Republic export credit agency in many of its export credit transactions. These transactions span across a broad range of industries and involving a number of jurisdictions.
She is recommended by Chambers Global and Practical Law Company’s Which Lawyer? Yearbook as a leader in corporate/mergers and acquisitions and banking & finance in the Czech Republic. PLC’s Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions Handbook and Chambers Europe named her a leader in the field of M&A in the Czech Republic. From 2006-2011, she was named among the most influential businesswomen in the Czech Republic in an annual ranking in Hospodářské noviny. In May 2012, she was elected to the Board of Directors of KBC Group NV as an independent director.

- Advising the agent on a multi-tranche financing facility for the reconstruction of an existing motorway and construction of a new motorway in Azerbaijan.
- Advising the Czech National Property Fund in connection with its approximate US$1.8 billion sale of the state’s 51.1 percent interest in Cesky Telecom.
- Representing two leading automobile manufacturers on all aspects of their joint venture Greenfield project to build an automotive manufacturing facility in Kolin, Czech Republic.
- Representing the issuer in its US$134 million GDR offering.
- Representing the senior and mezzanine lenders in an acquisition financing of a major food service company in Central Europe.
- Advising the agent on the financing of the development, construction and operation of a retail center in the Russian Federation.
- Advising the agent in the financing of the development, construction and operation of a new engineered wood product manufacturing facility in the CIS.
- Advising the lender on the secured financings of aircraft exported to Uganda, Brazil and French Guiana.
- Representing banks providing more than US$400 million in the first true project financing in the Czech Republic.
- Representing the borrower in the financing of the land acquisition development and construction of a 400-unit residential development in Prague.
- Representing the lender in the financing of a railway reconstruction project in Montenegro guaranteed by the government.
- Advising a major international financial institution on an export loan to a Turkish borrower in connection with an energy project in Turkey guaranteed by the parent corporation.
- Representing a financial institution in its own borrowings under short- and long-term and revolving credit facilities.
- Representing the lender on its acquisition financing of a major office building in Budapest, Hungary.
- Representing a Czech agro and chemical conglomerate in connection with its financing of acquisition of several companies.
