David Park advises on complex, high-stakes disputes across Asia and the Middle East. He has particular expertise in arbitrations arising out of major construction and energy projects; high-value cross-border investments, and M&A transactions. As counsel, he has advised on many of the region’s largest disputes, and is known for his work representing Korea’s largest conglomerates.

David has acted as counsel in arbitrations under all major institutional and procedural rules, including the ICC, DIAC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, KCAB and UNCITRAL. While working in the Middle East and Asia, he has advised on disputes across a wide range of sectors, including general commercial, construction, oil and gas, energy, mining, technology, investments and M&A.

A native Korean speaker, David combines international arbitration expertise with language capabilities and a strong understanding of Korean business practices. He has represented many of Korea’s leading construction, energy and technology companies in high-value disputes across multiple jurisdictions.

Prior to joining the firm, David practised in the international arbitration teams of two other leading international law firms in Singapore and Seoul.

  • Represented an Asian project company in SIAC arbitration proceedings against a consortium of Korean and Japanese contractors regarding the engineering and construction of a major oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Southeast Asia.
  • Represented a leading Korean contractor in a dispute arising out of the construction of a multipurpose dam in Southeast Asia.
  • Represented an energy joint venture company in LCIA arbitration proceedings regarding a power purchase payment dispute concerning a hydropower project in South Asia.
  • Represented a Korean subcontractor in a dispute against the contractor of the LNG Canada Project.
  • Represented multiple private equity funds in ICC arbitration proceedings arising from share purchase agreements concerning one of Korea’s largest insurance companies.
  • Represented a leading Korean technology company in SIAC arbitration proceedings against a Chinese investment company concerning the sale of production line equipment.
  • Represented a leading Korean contractor in multiple arbitrations arising out of the engineering and construction of the Roy Hill iron ore project in Western Australia.
  • Represented one of the world’s largest multinationals in a dispute against the owner of an LNG project located off the coast of Australia.
  • Represented multiple European investors in an ICSID arbitration against a Middle Eastern state under multiple bilateral investment treaties in relation to the construction of a mega-highway.
  • Represented a leading oil company in multiple ICC arbitrations arising out of the construction of an integrated chemical complex in the Middle East.
  • Represented a leading Korean technology company in an intellectual property arbitration against a competitor.
