Claire Parker specialises in construction and engineering law, focusing mainly on noncontentious work. Claire acts across a broad range of sectors, advising on procurement and implementation of high-value, complex developments.

Claire advises on development agreements, framework agreements and standard form contracts (including Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), New Engineering Contracts (NEC3 and NEC4), Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC)), as well as their associated documents, such as parent company guarantees, bonds, warranties and consultant appointments. She works on all aspects of a construction project and has experience in negotiating development agreements, agreements for lease and funding agreements.

Claire has a particular interest in the transport, logistics and engineering sectors, as well as the life sciences sector. She has experience in drafting and negotiating rail, airport and processing plant contracts for a variety of clients.

Claire also advises clients in relation to the merits of potential construction disputes and has experience in adjudication, as well as alternative dispute resolution.

  • Acting for Bruntwood Scitech and Manchester Science Partnerships on developments at Alderley Park, Manchester Science Park, Birmingham Health and Innovation Campus, including developments at Greenheys, Citylabs and Circle Square.
  • Acting for Network Rail in relation to multiple framework agreements and ancillary documents for the development of CP7 and the Midland Main Line Upgrade.
  • Acting for Manchester Airport Group, and advising on the use and implementation of its NEC contracts with various contractors and suppliers in relation to the ongoing redevelopment of the airport.
  • Acting for a chemical company in relation to the design, installation and running of various processing plants, using the IChemE form of contract.
  • Acting for a large logistics company across multiple sites in the UK. Work involved drafting and negotiating s278 contracts and contracts for the design and build of the warehousing facilities.
  • Leading the construction elements of Bruntwood’s Quantum project in relation to its £500 million joint venture with Legal and General and Greater Manchester Pension Fund.
