David is a director dealing exclusively in labor and employment law. He advises a wide range of corporate clients on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law to clients across a variety of sectors including media and advertising, sport and financial services. David is also a regular speaker in the Squire Patton Boggs seminar and workshop programme and frequently contributes to the Squire Patton Boggs employment law blog.

    David’s day to day practice involves providing support to in-house counsel and HR professionals with a wide variety of issues including difficult disciplinary and grievance issues; the planning and implementation of redundancy programmes; executive recruitment and severances; and managing long-term ill-health and capability in the workplace. In addition, David has experience in dealing with contentious litigation within both the Employment Tribunals and the High Court.

    David also works as part of cross-department teams advising on the employment-related issues associated with mergers, acquisitions and changes of service provider including the practical aspects of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE). This includes advising on cross-border transfers, ETO dismissals and the effects of administration on TUPE.

    David is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association.

    • Advising a respondent client in a complex multi-day employment tribunal proceedings relating to employment status, jurisdictional issues, unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and collective consultation.
    • Advising Respondent clients on non-compete and restrictive covenant issues including social media issues and potential High Court litigation.
    • Advising clients on TUPE, including on pre-pack and other administrations, ETO dismissals and outsourcings (including international process outsourcing).
    • Advising a number of high-level individuals in the financial services and commodities industries on their exit packages.
    • Advising on and drafting group-wide employment contracts and policies for a number of clients across all levels of employee seniority.
    • Advising Premier League football football teams and Premiership rugby clubs in relation to employment issues.
