Jonathan Ross is a partner in the Corporate Practice, with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions, including in the manufacturing, energy and resources, and financial services sectors. He also advises on group reorganizations and restructures.

    Jonathan started his career in the corporate team of a city of London firm before relocating to Australia in 2006, where he worked in the Melbourne office of a global firm. He relocated to the UK in 2015.

    Jonathan has significant experience dealing with in-house legal teams and has worked in-house, completing six-month secondments with both Shell (London) and BlueScope Steel (Melbourne).

    • Advised the shareholders of Pharmacy2U Limited on the sale of a majority stake to healthcare private equity fund G Square and associated £40 million investment in the group.
    • Advised Cott Corporation on the UK aspects of its US$1.25 billion sale of its traditional beverages business.
    • Advised Animalcare Group plc on its reverse takeover of Ecuphar NV (which has operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany).
    • Advised LDC on its investment in pest control product manufacturer Pelsis (which has operations in the UK, the US, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland and France).
    • Advised SIG plc on the disposal of its £100 million turnover carpet and flooring business to Endless and its circa £20 million disposal of SIG Buildings Plastics and SIG Windows to General All-Purpose Plastics.
    • Advised the shareholders of the Chaucer Foods Group on the US$130 million disposal to Nagatanien Holdings.
    • Advised the Business Growth Fund on the merger of Pharmacy2U and Chemist Direct and its subsequent investment in the merged business.
    • Advised the Six Degrees Technology Group, a provider of integrated managed communication services, including datacenter co-location, managed hosting and cloud computing, on its acquisitions of Insite, the Sunrise Group and C24.
    • Advised online educational resource company Twig World in relation to an investment made by Imperial College.


    • Advised Australian steel manufacturer BlueScope Steel on a number of transactions, including its AU$700 million acquisition of Smorgon Steel Distribution.
    • Advised NYSE-listed Jarden Corporation on its Asia Pacific small electrical appliances joint venture with Australian-listed company GUD Holdings.
    • Advised Mitsubishi Corporation on the acquisition and development (through a joint venture structure) of an AU$110 million diesel tank storage facility in South Australia.
    • Advised ExxonMobil on its sale of approximately 300 service stations in Australia to 7-Eleven.
    • Advised a major Asian refining company on its proposed acquisition of a stake in a significant Australian service station and downstream petroleum business.
    • Advised the major Australian bank, ANZ, on a number of transactions in Australia and Asia, including its AU$150 million sale of ANZ Trustees.
