Noriyuki Shimoda’s practice focuses on the representation of Japan-based clients with regard to their business activities in the US. He advises clients on a wide variety of legal areas, including corporate, commercial, venture capital financings/securities, real estate, intellectual property (IP), labor and immigration.

Noriyuki has represented several large Japanese pharmaceutical and medical device companies in their major licensing or distributorship agreements. In addition, Noriyuki has been involved in several major litigations/dispute resolutions in the pharmaceutical industry, such as ANDA litigation, arbitration and antitrust class action and multidistrict litigation (MDL).

Based on practical information he has obtained from his experiences representing Japanese clients (from established big public companies to startups) in projects or litigation/dispute resolution in a variety of legal areas, Noriyuki has spoken at seminars in Japan and the US on such subjects as California corporate law, labor law, venture capital financing, IP law, contracts (from non-disclosure agreements to IP license agreements), US litigation and US immigration law. He has written numerous legal articles on those subjects for the Journal of the Japanese Institute of International Business Law (Kokusai Shoji Homu) and other media.

He is a member of the Gunma Bar Association, the Japan Federation of Bar Associations and the State Bar of California.
