Pablo Sobarzo Bahamondes is an associate in the International Dispute Resolution Practice Group based in the Paris office.

Pablo is a Chilean national and specialises in commercial and investment treaty disputes as well as public international law. Pablo has experience advising states in energy, mining and telecommunications disputes, as well as in interstate disputes before the International Court of Justice.

Pablo holds LLM degrees in energy and natural resources and in public international law. He is admitted to the bar in Chile and is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

Prior to joining the firm in 2023, Pablo practiced law in several international law firms in London and Paris. Pablo also practiced law in his native Chile.

Commercial Arbitration

  • Represented the Republic of Peru in the Operadora Ecológica del Titicaca S.A.C. v. Republic of Peru (ICSID Case No. ARB/23/11), relating to a concession agreement for the construction of a wastewater treatment project in the Titicaca Lake region in Peru.
  • Represented the Republic of Peru in the Metro de Lima Linea 2, S.A. v. Republic of Peru (ii) (ICSID Case No. ARB/21/41) and Metro de Lima Linea 2, S.A. v. Republic of Peru (iii) (ICSID Case No. ARB/21/57) arbitrations relating to a concession agreement for the construction of a large-scale public works project in Lima, Peru.
  • Advised a European public entity in an ICC arbitration relating to a port concession dispute.

Investment Arbitration

  • Advised an Eastern European state in two UNCITRAL arbitrations relating to a major mining project.
  • Advised a Latin American state in five ICSID arbitrations relating to the mining, energy and telecommunications sectors.
  • Advised an Eastern European state in an ICSID arbitration relating to its banking sector.
  • Advised an African state in an ICSID arbitration pertaining to its telecommunications sector.

Public International Law

  • Advised an African state in a maritime boundary delimitation dispute before the International Court of Justice.
