Amanda Tey is an associate in the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group and Commodities & Shipping Industry Group. She has experience acting for banks, financial institutions and borrowers in debt restructuring transactions, project financing and asset financing with a particular focus in the maritime sector. Her practice also extends to complex cross-border M&A transactions involving government-linked corporations and publicly listed entities on real estate and construction related projects.

  • Assisted in advising a major financial institution (as agent for and on behalf of a syndicate of lenders) in connection with the predelivery and post-delivery financing of three pure car and truck carriers granted to a Korean shipping company via Liberian special purpose company (SPC) borrowers.
  • Assisted in advising a major financial institution (as agent and for and on behalf of a syndicate of lenders) in connection with the post-delivery financing of three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers granted to a Korean shipping company via Liberian SPC borrowers.
  • Advising PRC lessors in connection with an operating lease transaction relating to two new build ultramax bulk carriers, including advising on the shipbuilding contracts and the bareboat charters to be entered into with the relevant builders and charterers.
  • Advising PRC lessors in the preparation of redomiciliation of several of its Liberian incorporated SPCs into Singapore.
  • Assisted in advising PRC lessors in connection with a sale and leaseback transaction relating to two second-hand very large gas carriers (VLGCs) in which the vessels are purchased by PRC-incorporated SPCs from Liberian-incorporated SPCs and thereafter leased to separate Liberian-incorporated SPCs pursuant to the respective bareboat charter agreements and sub-bareboat charter agreements.
  • Assisted in advising PRC lessors (as main coordinator for and on behalf of a syndicate of co-lessors) in connection with the financing of a floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).
  • Advising a state development corporation’s acquisition of 100% equity interest in a public listed company with a transaction value amounting to RM655 million.
  • Advising a public listed company on a mandatory takeover offer of a 57.78% stake in the company with a transaction value amounting to RM23.8 million.
  • Advised a major financial instruction in the restructuring of facilities granted to a Malaysian property developer.
  • Acted as legal counsel to a major financial institution on the granting of Islamic finance facilities to a Labuan-incorporated company.
