David Yates focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, representing healthcare and insurance clients in breach of contract, unfair competition and business torts disputes. He also has experience handling environmental disputes related to healthcare fraud and abuse compliance.

Prior to joining the firm, David worked at another large international law firm handling managed-care reimbursement disputes and various healthcare appellate matters. He also externed with the University of Southern California’s Health Sciences Legal Team during the COVID-19 pandemic, assisting the hospital system with a range of related regulatory, privacy and compliance issues.

While attending law school, David was the senior executive editor of the Duke Journal of Comparative and International Law and the president of the Duke Law Latin American Law Students Association. Additionally, he was a member of Duke Law’s Dean’s Advisory Council.

Before going to law school, David was a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) and worked for a regional waste management firm.
