Squire Patton Boggs has advised the shareholders of Iridium, a consultancy specialising in complex, high-risk technology migrations for financial services organisations, on its combination with cloud-native consultancy Container Solutions. Backed by Growth Capital Partners (GCP), the transaction brings together two complementary professional services businesses to create a specialist partner for technology change.
The combined business will bring together more than 100 people, uniting Iridium’s deep financial services expertise and established client relationships with Container Solutions’ specialist cloud-native engineering capabilities.
The Squire Patton Boggs team was led by Corporate partners Mae Salem and Paul Mann, assisted by senior associate Emily Downie and associate Chetan Mistry.
Founded in 2018 by Sinclair Elliott and Ben Dainton, Iridium is headquartered in Leeds, with a team of more than 80 specialists across offices in Leeds and Budapest. It has built a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-risk migrations across cards, payments and critical banking platforms. Its expertise also spans software engineering, cloud and data, quality assurance and cyber security, supporting financial services clients through significant technology change. Iridium has also developed TestPath, a specialist product for the sector.
Founded in 2014, Container Solutions is a specialist cloud-native platform engineering consultancy headquartered in London, with a strong presence in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. It helps organisations build and run technology more effectively through cloud strategy and modernisation, platform engineering and technical consultancy.
The combination will offer organisations a broader range of expertise, from complex migrations through to modern, cloud-native engineering, with the scale to take on larger programmes and opportunities to deliver a wider suite of services to an expanded client base.
James O’Donovan, CEO of Container Solutions, will lead the combined business, with Sinclair Elliott taking on the role of Chief Commercial Officer.
Mae Salem commented: “This transaction brings together two highly complementary businesses to create a compelling platform for growth. We were delighted to support the shareholders of Iridium on this important milestone and wish the business every success for the future.”
