Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce that Jonathan Ross has been appointed managing partner of the firm’s Leeds office. He succeeds Prew Lumley, who is retiring from the firm.
Jonathan is a corporate partner and has over 20 years’ experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and joint venture transactions. Jonathan started his career in London and brings extensive international and in‑house legal experience to the office leadership role, including nearly a decade working in Australia and secondments with Shell and BlueScope Steel. He joined Squire Patton Boggs in 2015, becoming a partner in 2017.
“Prew has led the Leeds office with distinction, during which time our business has gone from strength to strength,” said Jonathan. “I am excited to have the opportunity to take up this new challenge and build on what has already been achieved, working closely with colleagues locally and internationally to drive continued growth and position the firm confidently for the future.”
Andrew Wilkinson, the firm’s European managing partner, added: “Jonathan has played a key role in shaping our office in Leeds and he brings enthusiasm, ambition and a genuine passion for the business. I have no doubt he will lead the team brilliantly as it moves into the next chapter of growth.”
Founded in the 1880s, the firm’s Leeds office services clients from the regional, national and international markets. Over the past year, the firm has made a number of senior hires including Pensions partner Gemma Hanley and Litigation partner Deborah Polden, as well as the promotion to partner of Planning lawyer David Myers. The office now has 20 partners and over 250 staff.
