Squire Patton Boggs Celebrates Speaker John Boehner’s Historic Ohio Supreme Court Honor

Squire Patton Boggs proudly recognizes former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John A. Boehner on the occasion of an honor bestowed by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

At a recent ceremony held in Columbus, the Court unveiled a bronze relief of Speaker Boehner in the grand foyer outside its chambers. The installation places Speaker Boehner among a distinguished group of Ohio leaders, including U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, and former House Speakers, whose service has helped shape the nation. Notably, this is the first new bronze relief added to the Court’s foyer in nearly a century.

Former Speaker Boehner delivered keynote remarks at the ceremony, following introductions by Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court Sharon L. Kennedy and the Honorable Deborah Pryce and the Honorable Pat Tiberi, formerly of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Reflecting on the unveiling, Speaker Boehner said, “It might be my face out there on that wall, but it’s the people in this room that helped put it there.”

He added, “Without your faith in me and in our country, I would not be here today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Mark J. Ruehlmann, Chairman and Global CEO of Squire Patton Boggs, commented on the tribute: “Speaker Boehner’s recognition by the Ohio Supreme Court is a well-deserved honor and a testament to his extraordinary record of public service, from his representation of Ohio’s Eighth Congressional District to his tenure as Speaker of the House during a pivotal period in our nation’s history. His leadership, dedication to public service, and ability to bring people together across party lines have left a lasting impact, and we are proud to count him as a valued colleague.”

Since joining Squire Patton Boggs in 2016 as a Senior Strategic Advisor in the firm’s global Public Policy Practice, Speaker Boehner has continued to provide invaluable insight and counsel to clients and colleagues, drawing on decades of experience at the highest levels of government.
