Ana Luiza de Oliveira Viana de Castro is a member of the International Dispute Resolution Practice Group, based in our Paris office.
Ana Luiza represents states and companies in international disputes, and has experience in matters related to Latin America. Her practice concentrates on international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, with a particular focus on high-stakes disputes in the energy, infrastructure, construction and telecommunications sectors.
She has experience in arbitrations conducted under various rules, including those of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC) and the International Center for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association (ICDR-AAA).
Before joining the firm, Ana Luiza practiced arbitration, litigation and corporate law at some of Brazil’s leading law firms, representing domestic and international clients in both arbitral and judicial proceedings.
Representing the Republic of Panama in FCC Construcción, S.A. v. Republic of Panama (ICSID Case No. ARB/25/29), a construction-sector dispute arising from public infrastructure projects in Panama, and claims brought under the Spain-Panama Bilateral Investment Treaty.
Representing the Republic of Peru in TV Azteca S.A.B de C.V. and Azteca Comunicaciones Perú S.A.C. v. Republic of Peru (ICSID Case No. ARB/23/37), a telecommunications sector dispute arising from the Mexico-Peru Free Trade Agreement, and a concession contract to roll out a nationwide telecommunications network in Peru.
Representing a multinational energy company in an ICC arbitration concerning a construction project, and involving claims related to contractual warranties and construction defects.
Representing a Brazilian company in an ICC arbitration arising out of an M&A transaction, and involving alleged breaches of representations and warranties, closing conditions and claims for damages.
Representing a Brazilian company in multiple arbitrations arising out of an M&A transaction, and involving disputes over shareholders’ rights, closing conditions and pre-arbitration injunctive relief. The amount in dispute exceeded BRL1 billion.
Assisting arbitral tribunals in international arbitration proceedings involving corporate, contractual and construction disputes.
