About Jane

Jane O’Grady leads our Intellectual Property & Technology Practice in Ireland. Jane was previously a partner in a large domestic firm in Ireland and is dual-qualified as a solicitor and a trademark and design attorney . She specialises in intellectual property (IP), privacy, technology and commercial contracts. Her work also encompasses the evolving use and regulation of artificial intelligence (AI), which is an area she has widely written and presented on.

Experience

  • Acting for multiple domestic and international clients in brand protection strategies, including trademark prosecutions, cease and desist actions and licensing arrangements.

  • Acting in high-value sponsorship agreements with international tech companies for an Irish state body, and for an annual science competition.

  • Advising businesses engaging with state-funded research partners on assignment and licensing of IP under Ireland’s National IP Protocol.

  • Advising a range of technology clients on agreements for IT systems development, cloud solutions and data analytics services, including on emerging AI issues.

  • Advised a supplier of medical products on a multimillion euro agreement to supply its products to Ireland’s heath service authority and multinational pharmaceutical companies.

  • Advising on a suite of contracts for a pharmaceutical company to develop an inhaled surfactant in neonates.

  • Advising a leading provider of health services in Ireland on its supply agreements as part of a corporate joint venture with a large health insurance provider.

  • Advising a leading e-commerce technology company on data protection compliance in the EU.

  • Advising multinational clients on strategies in data sharing and requirements in cross-border data transfer arrangements.

  • Advising clients on data subject access requests and data breaches, including dealing with complaints and notifications to the Irish Data Protection Commission.

  • Drafting data policies, as well as data processing and sharing agreements.

  • Advising multiple clients on IP and data protection issues in corporate transactions.

  • Advising an international news organisation on advertising terms, as well as conditions and prize promotion rules for digital subscribers.
