Letizia Ceccarelli is a senior associate in the International Dispute Resolution Practice Group in our Milan and Geneva offices.
Letizia has experience in investor-state arbitration, including proceedings conducted under the rules of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). She has also represented private companies in international commercial arbitrations under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Her cases have involved a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, construction and infrastructure, aerospace and telecommunications.
Letizia holds an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (MIDS). She also regularly lectures on international arbitration and energy law.
Representing a sovereign state in multibillion-dollar ICSID proceedings arising out of a failed oil and gas project, involving claims exceeding US$1 billion.

Representing a European gas buyer in connection with a gas price review dispute.
Representing the Republic of Kazakhstan in a multibillion-dollar UNCITRAL arbitration against a consortium of international oil majors concerning alleged breaches of a production sharing agreement.
Representing the Republic of Kazakhstan in a multibillion-dollar ICSID arbitration against a consortium of international oil majors concerning alleged breaches of environmental obligations.
Advising investors in multibillion-dollar pre-arbitration proceedings against two Eastern European states arising out of alleged expropriatory measures.
Represented a European buyer in a dispute concerning breaches of an liquified natural gas (LNG) supply agreement.
Represented the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a multibillion-dollar dispute against an international oil major.
Represented a gas trader in an ICC arbitration seated in Geneva concerning gas price reviews under an sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with a state-owned company.
Represented a gas trader in an ICC arbitration seated in Vienna concerning gas price reviews under an SPA with a state-owned company.
Advised an African state on the reform of its domestic investment law framework and international arbitration regime.
Represented an Italian gas importer in a multibillion-dollar dispute with a seller arising out of the construction and operation of a gas facility.
Represented an African state in an investment dispute arising out of a local power project.
Represented an African state in an investment dispute concerning the imposition of stamp duty by the local revenue authority.
Represented a governmental entity in a UNCITRAL arbitration brought by an investor following the termination of a gold mining concession.
Represented a leading Italian company in its defence of an LCIA arbitration concerning a contract for the construction of a thermoelectric power plant in Latin America.
Represented the national gas company of a foreign sovereign in an ICC arbitration brought by a state-owned entity concerning the termination of a gas distribution agreement.
Represented an Italian state-owned company in an ICC arbitration brought by a Turkish agent concerning the validity of an agency agreement.
