About Manon

Manon Ombredane specialises in EU regulatory and environmental law, with a particular focus on food, chemicals and product law. Her practice encompasses compliance advisory work, legislative advocacy and contentious matters, including proceedings before the European Courts, the Board of Appeal of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and national courts.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, Manon advises clients on a broad range of matters at the intersection of environmental and product regulation, including packaging, green claims, deforestation, ecodesign and the circular economy. She brings comprehensive knowledge of the EU chemicals and product regulatory framework covering notably Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP), Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the General Product Safety Regulation, which she combines with over five years of specialist experience in food and feed law acquired at an international law firm. Manon closely monitors the evolving EU regulatory landscape, including the Commission's Chemicals Industry Action Plan, the Circular Economy Act and the Vision for Agriculture and Food, advising clients on compliance strategy and regulatory risk as this agenda continues to develop.

Experience

  • Advising a specialist ink company on current EU CLP and REACH restrictions, and potential Great Britain (GB) restrictions.

  • Advising a diversified industrials firm with continuing advice on notification and corrective action for a lithium ion battery used in a handheld printer following several reports of fire. Including continuing support with communications to customers and requirements for updates to authorities following previous notification via EU Rapid Alert system.

  • Advising a drinks producer with continuing advice on product notification and recall procedure guidance documents and template communications; providing advice on potential liabilities under food laws in EU and in UK for date marking in relation to multipack advent calendar product and registration of such product as fortified food in the EU.

  • Advising a manufacturer of food production equipment on numerous areas of potential product liability, including in particular on the upcoming restriction of Bisphenols in food contact materials in the EU. The advice on future liabilities for hazardous bisphenols is business critical for the client, as there are no obvious replacements for key components of its product range.

  • Advising a healthcare product manufacturer on how the new regulation establishing a framework for the setting of eco-design requirements for sustainable products (ESPR Regulation) is likely to impact their products.

  • Advising a healthcare product manufacturer on EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) – in-depth analysis of and advice on various provisions of this new EU legislation, including likely classification of pre-filled products, relevance of conformity assessments under medical device legislation and producer responsibility registration strategy.

  • Advising on the challenge of non-approval of chlorpyrifos-methyl as a plant protection product active substance T-77/20 Ascenza Agro in the Court of Justice of the EU.

  • Successfully supported a client in biocides data-sharing proceedings before the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Board of Appeal (A-011-2022).
