Dave Gordon is dual qualified, with a scientific background and Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology, and advises on both technical and legal issues arising from EU environmental regulation.

Dave is a recognised national expert in dealing with environmental compliance, sustainability and negotiation with statutory authorities and has particular experience in dealing with the negotiation and apportionment of environmental liability on large cross-jurisdictional M&A and real estate transactions.

Dave is one of the few environmental lawyers with “hands on” experience of enforcement under the UK Contaminated Land Regime and has advised on some of the largest regeneration projects in Europe, including environmental and remediation issues associated with the delivery of the 2012 London Olympics. His expertise also extends to cover energy and utility matters, having advised in this sector for more than 10 years, increasingly in respect of renewable energy projects.

Dave is recognised by the Law Society for his chemical sector expertise, having gained a national profile advising on chemical regulatory issues such as REACH and CLP. In addition, he is recognised by The Legal 500 UK, Chambers UK and Best Lawyers UK.

Dave is an active member of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA) and is on the board of PLC Environment.

  • Advising a renewable energy provider on a historic landfill site and liability for landfill gas migration, remediation and mitigation options.
  • Acting for a national energy provider on the legal aspects of site acquisition, liability transfer and remediation of a large former chemical works.
  • Acting for Taylor Wimpey PLC in dealing with the management and the appointment of its environmental consultancy team and scope of works for the sustainable regeneration/remediation of numerous development/regeneration projects.
  • Advising a number of US corporations on the implementation of REACH and CPL requirements and procedures across the EU, including drafting bespoke consortium documentation and dealing with numerous registrations and authorisation applications.
  • Advising on over 300 sites determined under the UK contaminated land regime, and successfully appealing a number of remediation notices.
  • Advising on all environmental aspects of the largest automotive sector disposal in the UK.
  • Advising a global life science company on market entry requirements and the EU bioscience directive.
