We are proud to be participating in a Houston Bar Association – International Law Section webinar titled “Mexican Outsourcing Reforms: Their Impact, Risks, and
How to Avoid Them.”

Our firm’s of counsel Jose Martin will join the panel to discuss a set of amendments that Mexico enacted in April 2021. This major overhaul to the Mexican legal framework repeals and replaces the prior "subcontracted work" legal regime, by amending the Federal Labor Law (Ley Federal del Trabajo, LFT) and all relevant tax laws, including the Federal Tax Code and the Social Security Law.

Discussions for the panel will include:

  • What these reforms mean for Mexican subsidiaries of US companies
  • How to manage the new risks when hiring third-party service providers in Mexico

The conversation will focus on practical advice based on our in-house and private practice experience and will address questions from the participants as they manage their Mexican operations.

Other panelists include:

  • Rafael Garcia, Oleum Corporation
  • Jimena Olivera, Basham, Ringe y Correab S.C.
