UK Spring Budget 2020: Measures to Support Those Affected by COVID-19

The top priority in today’s Budget was the UK government’s fiscal response to the significant economic disruption expected to be caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), commonly known as the “coronavirus”. The measures announced are intended to be “temporary, timely and targeted”, but amount to a package worth a total of £12 billion. However, the Chancellor was absolutely clear that the government is committed to “continue to monitor the situation” and will extend additional support wherever it is needed and “for as long as it is needed”.
