Squire Patton Boggs advised on winning transactions at the 2025 P3 Awards, which celebrate excellence in public-private partnerships (P3s).
In the “Best Road, Bridge or Tunnel Project” category, the firm represented a consortium of three international infrastructure developers, which includes Plenary, Acciona, and Sacyr, on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Project, Louisiana’s largest P3 to date. The 5.5-mile corridor replaces the 1952 bridge with an eight-lane structure (three lanes plus an auxiliary lane in each direction) and full shoulders. The project includes demolition of the old bridge, long-term operations and maintenance, and interoperable tolling with a customer service center. Squire Patton Boggs provided legal counsel to the design-build venture during procurement and construction and offered public policy representation for the consortium with the state government.
In the “Public Sector Promoter/Procurer of the Year” category, the Georgia Department of Transportation, in partnership with the State Road and Tollway Authority, was selected as best procurer of public infrastructure projects. The selection was based on two projects – SR 400 and I-285 Express Lanes – for both of which Squire Patton Boggs represented the design-build joint venture comprised of ACS Infrastructure, Acciona, and Meridiam. The multibillion-dollar transportation projects aim to improve safety, reduce congestion, and support multimodal mobility.
The firm fielded a multi practice team to support these matters including public and infrastructure finance counsel Gregory V. Johnson, Denver managing partner and environmental, safety and health global chair Peter S. Gould, international dispute resolution partner Jonathan M. Taunton, corporate partners Naveen Pogula and Daniel G. Berick, senior policy advisor and former Congressman Bill Shuster, public policy partner Austin Harrison, construction and engineering senior attorney Loana Martín, and associates Charli Davis and Andrew T. Fields.
