Jeffrey W. DeBeer is a litigator with lead counsel experience at the trial and appellate court levels. He practices in both state and federal courts, often on matters involving complex payor-provider healthcare disputes and consumer protection statutes. Jeff has also represented clients in class actions, complex business disputes, arbitration proceedings, preliminary injunctions and government investigations.

An active member of the community, Jeff has coached mock trial at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a local high school and as part of the Federal Bar Association’s annual summer associate competition. In addition, Jeff serves on the Inn of Court Executive Committee.

Jeff has been recognized in Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2020-22, a recognition of only 2.5% of eligible attorneys selected after a peer nomination and selection process. Jeff was also named by Best Lawyers in its 2021, 2022 and 2023 Ones to Watch list, an award given to attorneys for outstanding professional achievements in private practice.

  • Successfully obtained dismissal of and defended against numerous complex payor-provider healthcare disputes brought against a variety of defendants, including insurers, Medicaid managed care organizations, ERISA plans, third-party administrators and Medicare advantage organizations.
  • Represented a large consumer products manufacturer in a class action lawsuit premised on false advertising allegations.
  • Defended numerous consumer reporting agencies in individual and class action lawsuits involving alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Acted as appellate counsel in a high-profile white collar case, resulting in a reversal of convictions on 10 counts, and a successful defense of the government’s requests for reconsideration and the Ohio Supreme Court’s review.
  • Assisted a professional sports franchise in defending a class action brought by former players, as well as system arbitrations and non-injury grievances alleging club collusion.
  • Defended a marine company in a dispute over the sinking of a well-known floating steakhouse that became unmoored and adrift on the Ohio River.
  • Represented a commercial products manufacturer in preliminary injunction proceedings to compel international arbitration.
  • Defended various breach of contract actions for individual and corporate clients.
  • Represented an industrial products manufacturer in injunction and arbitration proceedings relating to termination of a dealership agreement.
  • Acted as counsel in a pro bono client’s appeal of various criminal convictions, obtaining a reversal and challenging the remaining convictions to the Supreme Court of Ohio.
