Jens Petry is a partner in our International Dispute Resolution and Litigation practices based in our Frankfurt office. Jens’ practice is focused on intellectual property (IP) and cartel damage litigation, as well as on international arbitration.

It includes litigation in the fields of patent, trademark, design and copyright infringement, competition law, and criminal and customs procedures. Jens has extensive experience in these fields for the industry groups of luxury goods, domestic appliances and medical devices.

Jens has represented clients ranging from small and mid-sized companies to international market leaders in more than 300 cases in various courts in Germany since 2005, including courts of appeal and the Federal Supreme Court. Jens is a member of the German Association for Industrial Property and Copyright Law (GRUR), as well as of the International Trademark Association (INTA).

  • Representing a global producer of medical devices in a LCIA arbitration involving a damage claim of more than €350 million.
  • Advising an international manufacturer for the wind energy industry in a product liability dispute involving a €100 million damages claim.
  • Representing a Saudi Arabian food distributor in an ICC arbitration involving a damage claim of US$68 million.
  • Representing a major airline in a €2 billion cartel damages litigation case.
  • Representing the claimant in cartel damage litigation concerning a farina cartel involving a damage claim of more than €140 million.
  • Representing the claimant in cartel damage litigation concerning the sugar cartel involving a damage claim of more than €30 million.
  • Representing an international publishing house in a complex global trademark dispute and related settlement negotiations.
  • Representing a German manufacturer of welding torches in a cross-border patent infringement litigation case involving a US$10 million damages claim.
  • Representing a well-known brand owner in multinational criminal investigations against a professional network of counterfeiters and coordinating undercover investigations in cooperation with EUROPOL in several European countries and China.
  • Representing a German manufacturer of kitchen appliances in patent infringement cases against foreign competitors exhibiting infringing products at trade fairs, including seizures and destruction of the infringing products.
  • Representing a branch-leading manufacturer of equipment for processing reactive resin in a complex employee invention litigation case involving 15 patents and more than 500 claimed infringements.
  • Representing a well-known German manufacturer of cosmetic products in patent invalidity proceedings against a multinational company.
  • Ongoing coordination of IP enforcement measures in Germany, including online and retail market monitoring, border seizures, and civil and criminal actions, for Swiss-based multinational manufacturers of luxury goods.
