William Saunders is a senior associate in the firm's Labour & Employment Practice Group.

William advises organisations and individuals on workplace law at every stage of the employment relationship, from recruitment to termination. He has experience in a wide range of employment law matters, including business restructures and redundancy exercises, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and employment status disputes.

William regularly undertakes contentious work, and has litigated on behalf of employer clients in unfair dismissal and discrimination claims in the Employment Tribunal and restrictive covenant cases in the High Court.

William is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

  • Acted for a recruitment company in High Court business protection litigation to enforce restrictive covenants and database rights against a competitor and a former employee.
  • Acted for the UK subsidiary of a US food company in the defence of disability discrimination and unfair dismissal claims.
  • Acted for the managing director of a chemicals company in a claim of unfair dismissal, and in a dispute with his employer's US parent regarding the breach of a long-term incentive plan.
  • Acted for an executive of the UK subsidiary of a global media plc in claims of race and sex discrimination and constructive unfair dismissal.
  • Advised corporate clients in the accountancy, management consultancy and pharmaceutical industries on TUPE and other employment law issues in the context of business acquisitions and disposals.
  • Acted for an AIM-listed plc in drafting service agreements for its senior executives and negotiating the exits of a number of its employees.
  • Provided ongoing HR advisory support to the UK subsidiary of an Indian pharmaceutical company.
