About Andrew

Andrew King advocates for clients in state and federal courts across the country. With a focus on complex civil litigation, Andrew brings a competitive drive to cases involving contract disputes, business torts, environmental matters, real estate and construction disputes, as well as products liability.

Andrew further advises clients on risk management and exposure. By addressing potential liability before litigation, Andrew can position clients for success in any future adversarial proceedings and can often help clients avoid litigation entirely. In addition to his trial practice, Andrew advises clients in the charter aviation industry and also in sports and entertainment, with a focus on navigating the new legal framework regarding name, image and likeness (NIL).

A Columbus native, Andrew is proud of his community and works hard to elevate and give back to Central Ohio. Among other initiatives, Andrew was proud to serve as a leader of, and pro bono general counsel for, the Save The Crew movement. Andrew currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Opera Columbus.

Experience

Complex Civil Matters

  • Won early dismissals of various lawsuits against clients through pre-trial dispositive motions, including:
    • A seven-figure personal injury claim filed against the client, a national telecommunications provider.
    • An eight-figure real estate transaction dispute filed against the client, an affordable-housing real estate development company.
    • A 10-figure demand filed against the client, the Ohio State Department of Commerce, arising out of a failed bid to obtain a license as part of the state’s Medical Marijuana Control Program.
  • Successfully defended the largest manufacturer of high-density polyethylene pipe in various breach of contract, tort and products liability litigation in state and federal courts across the country.
  • Successfully defended the largest utility locating company in various breach of contract, tort and personal injury litigation in state and federal courts across the country.
  • Defended a company and executives in SEC investigation and enforcement action.
  • Parachuted into a time-sensitive corporate acquisition and successfully negotiated a resolution to several pending lawsuits so that the transaction could proceed.
  • Advised on various pending and threatened litigation matters and analysis, as part of the due diligence process for various corporate acquisitions.
  • Advised prominent individuals and entities on the various rules and regulations governing NIL.

Pro Bono Matters

  • Successfully represented an individual seeking asylum in the US, in which the individual would have faced likely physical harm or death if deported.
  • Defended and represented indigent tenants against landlords in various rent escrow cases.
  • Served as pro bono counsel for, and as an advisor to, the Save The Crew grassroots organization.
