About John

John Karellas is an associate in our International Trade & Foreign Investment Practice Group, where he advises clients on a wide range of matters. He primarily focuses on compliance and regulatory issues related to US customs and import controls.

Before joining our firm, John was an attorney-advisor at the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Trade, Regulations and Rulings Directorate, where he specialized in tariff classification. He earned his J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he served as the executive editor on the Journal of Law and Technology.

John also works with and supports clients in handling various tariff matters, including Section 301, Section 232 and Section 122 tariff and import matters, as well as in assisting clients in processing International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff refunds. He supports others in the practice group in handling issues relating to export controls, economic sanctions and foreign investment clearance.
