About Kathryn

Kathryn Wilson is an associate in the Labour & Employment team based in our Manchester office. She advises on all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law, and is a trusted adviser to many national and international clients across a variety of sectors.

Kathryn prides herself on delivering pragmatic and commercial client focused advice. She is experienced in all aspects of tribunal litigation and works closely with the firm’s national corporate finance team to advise on employment aspects of M&A activity. She also specialises in supporting clients through disciplinary, grievance and capability matters.

Kathryn acts as the firm’s coordinator for the Employment Tribunal Litigants in Person Support Scheme (ELIPS).

Experience

  • Defending a variety of complex and high-value multifaceted employment tribunal claims including claims relating to disability discrimination, whistleblowing, employment status and constructive unfair dismissal.

  • Supporting and advising clients through disciplinary, grievance, capability and long-term sickness matters.

  • Working with the firm’s national corporate finance team to advise on all employment aspects of M&A activity, including assessing risk and providing recommendations during due diligence, drafting and negotiating the employment provisions of key transaction documents, drafting and negotiating employment ancillaries (including service agreements, settlement agreements and bonus documentation) and advising on post-completion matters, including restructures, Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE), redundancies, changes to terms and conditions and other issues arising from integration.

  • Providing operational and strategic employment law advice in respect of business restructuring and reorganisations.

  • Advising companies and individuals on agreed exits, including negotiating settlement terms.

  • Designing and delivering bespoke in-house training to clients on a variety of topics, including reasonable adjustments, trade union disputes, performance management, workplace investigations and conducting disciplinaries.
