Lewis was recently seconded to the firm’s Dubai office.

Experience

  • Advising an Eastern European state on an International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) dispute arising out of a property development.

  • Advising the Republic of Kazakhstan on a major United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) arbitration, stemming from an energy production sharing agreement with several international oil majors.

  • Advising a Middle Eastern organisation on a Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) construction dispute.

  • Advised on a high-value and highly publicised dispute in the English High Court, Chancery Division. Claims were in respect of fraudulent misrepresentation were upheld. Substantial damages were secured, and the purchase contract rescinded.

  • Advised a Chinese energy organisation in a (Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) administered) UNCITRAL dispute regarding a long-term liquified natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement.

  • Advised on a commodities dispute between entities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa and Europe.

  • Advised a major global manufacturing company on a Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) dispute arising out of a commodities sale and purchase agreement.

  • Advised a Middle Eastern state on an ICSID dispute.
