Mareike Lucht is a senior associate in the Data Privacy, Cybersecurity & Digital Assets Practice based in our Berlin office. She advises and represents clients in national and international privacy compliance, with a special focus on the current development of data privacy laws. Mareike regularly drafts international data transfers agreements, privacy policies and assists with data subject access requests (DSARs). She handles IT and commercial contracts, in particular in the e-business sector. She further advises national and international clients on M&A transactions and compliance, focusing on data transfers.

Mareike holds an LL.M. from the University of San Diego, California, with a specialisation in US Business and Corporate Law. Before joining the firm, she worked at other prominent law firms in Berlin, Germany, and Los Angeles, California, as an associate and a trainee. She also worked for an internet startup in San Diego.

  • Advising various global companies on compliance issues (internal and external investigations that trigger privacy concerns).
  • Advising and updating on Binding Corporate Rules.
  • Regularly advising on and conducting data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Regularly drafting privacy notices (employment- and website-related, as well as customer facing).
  • Regularly advising on data processing agreements, data transfer agreements and intra group data processing agreements for numerous global clients, as well as joint controller agreements and controller-to-controller agreements.
  • Regular contract negotiations for commercial companies and advertisement agencies, with a particular focus on practicability within tight time frames.
  • Advising medical clients in health data matters, in both national and international settings.
  • Conducted numerous General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) implementation projects for global clients.
  • Involved in cartel damage litigation.
  • Involved in commercial claim defence.
