Claire Murphy is an associate in the Data Privacy, Cybersecurity & Digital Assets Practice where she specialises in data privacy law, e-commerce, intellectual property and technology (IP&T), and consumer protection law. Prior to joining the firm, Claire was an associate in one of the Big Four accounting organisations.

Data Privacy and Cybersecurity

Claire provides advice on the design and implementation of GDPR readiness. She also conducts privacy compliance audits, analysis of cross-border data flows, drafting of international data transfer agreements and privacy impact assessments, among others.

Consumer Protection/e-Commerce

Claire is involved in day-to-day advice on legal and regulatory issues affecting the B2C relationships of national and international companies, as well as on issues related to e-commerce and advertising, including commercial communications, intermediation service providers, search engines and e-commerce.

Intellectual Property and Technology

In her IP&T practice, Claire is involved in matters relating to trademark law, copyright, software and licensing agreements.

  • Advising on the renewal of the collaboration contractual framework of a major credit reporting agency, including drafting and negotiating contracts relating to a wide range of intellectual property, data protection and commercial matters.
  • Conducting GDPR compliance exercises, as well as drafting privacy impact assessments for different clients.
  • Developed a report analysing digital assets e-privacy practice in Spain for an energy group, as well as designing its cookie strategy.
  • Participation in commercial transactions involving the acquisition of tech entities/branches of activity (due diligence of digital assets and participation in processes for the acquisition of companies in the field of cybersecurity and cloud computing, among others).
  • Conducting digital law audits, covering the areas of intellectual and industrial property, consumer protection, advertising and data protection.
