About Giancarlo

Giancarlo Pellegrini is the chair of the firm’s Congressional Oversight & Investigations Practice.

Giancarlo represents institutions and individuals in complex and sensitive investigations, primarily before US congressional committees. He brings more than a decade of experience in federal and state government, including work on many of the most prominent congressional inquiries in recent history.

Most recently, Giancarlo served as senior counsel to Ranking Member Robert Garcia of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where he led the minority’s investigation into the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein.

Prior to that, he was democratic staff director of the House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, where he oversaw an investigation into the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania

He also served as democratic chief counsel to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, where he led the minority’s engagement in the investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 virus.

He began his career in the House as elections counsel to the Committee on House Administration, where he led the House’s legal preparations for the electoral count on January 6, 2021, and he led subsequent legislative efforts to reform the Electoral Count Act of 1887.

In those roles, Giancarlo conducted the first congressional staff deposition of a former US president in American history, as well as the first-ever congressional transcribed interview of a sitting cabinet secretary. Giancarlo also deposed or led transcribed interviews of a former US secretary of state and first lady, a former US attorney general and a prominent former director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, as well as numerous Secret Service agents and officials.

Giancarlo previously served as assistant counsel to the governor of New York, where he helped write laws, regulations and executive orders related to election law, civil rights, affordable housing and veterans’ affairs.
